2024 Statewide Friends Conference

Join Parks & Trails New York for an enriching and engaging two-day Statewide Friends Conference, taking place on October 18-19 at the Gideon Putnam in picturesque Saratoga Springs, NY.

This biennial event, hosted by Parks & Trails New York, in collaboration with the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks), promises an invaluable opportunity for Friends groups to converge, connect, and collaborate. For the first time, we are planning the conference with the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation to ensure our event supports all the organizations that champion our public lands!

At the heart of this gathering lies a commitment to fostering camaraderie, sharing knowledge, and igniting meaningful conversations on a diverse array of pertinent topics. Participants can anticipate delving into discussions revolving around nonprofit best practices, fostering public-private partnerships, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) initiatives, as well as the myriad challenges and opportunities that confront Friends groups as they work to achieve their mission.

With a spotlight on board development strategies and effective governance mechanisms, attendees will have the chance to glean insights from seasoned professionals and peers alike. Against the backdrop of the NYS Parks Centennial, this conference serves as a beacon for reflection and forward-thinking. As we commemorate a century of conservation achievements, we'll collectively envision the next 100 years, charting a course towards a future where our natural heritage is cherished, protected, and celebrated by all.

Don't miss this exceptional occasion to be part of a dynamic community dedicated to preserving our state's invaluable natural and historical treasures. Join us in Saratoga Springs, where inspiration meets action, and together, let's shape a legacy that transcends generations.
